I have worked for Graphic Chemical & Ink Company since 1968 - with a brief hiatus(almost 4 years) to travel the World courtesy of my uncle. Sadly it turns out it was my Uncle Sam, and I wasn't too thrilled about the places that he chose to send me. My wife and I have run Graphic Chemical for many years, and have enjoyed the travel that comes with the position. We get to meet our customers (and the occasional vendor) from all over the World

ImagOn ULTRA-RAPID

Over the past few years, the intaglio printmaking film ImagOn has undergone several changes - mostly for the better. The latest iteration is ImagOn ULTRA-Rapid. The new film is quite similar to its immediate predecessor ImagOn ULTRA, with just a few exceptions:
  1. Up to about a 20% reduction in halftone image exposure, creating a sharper print with a superior tonal range.
  2. Easier film lamination with greater edge adhesion, and
  3. The film is a darker blue color, making it easier to see the developed image in the etched intaglio technique. (note: it is a little harder to see the image in the non-etched techniques, so you should always proof your plates to determine image quality.)

Processing guides are available at no charge from Graphic Chemical - all you have to do is ask. Like any printmaking process, there is a learning curve to working with ImagOn ULTRA-Rapid, but the results are well worth the effort.

Keith Howard, who has been the guru of ImagOn, has a new companion book called The Contemporary Printmaker: Intaglio-Type & Acrylic Resist Etching (item number 70500), which sells for $48.00. There is also a video available from Keith (item number 70580) that sells for $31.00.

Contact us for any information that you need about this product line or the process itself.
